THE PIT

PSALM 40: 1-3
I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord . He inclined His ear and HEARD ME CRYING.
He drew me up out of a horrible pit , set my feet on a rock and established my GOINGS.
HE PUT A NEW SONG IN MY MOUTH!

Here is the lie about the HORRIBLE PIT spoken of in this Psalm: YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO IS IN ONE !!! Everyone else is doing so much better in life than you are ! If you need proof of that check Facebook!

Here is another misconception: being in a pit of depression or anxiety is extremely painful. Actually, it can become quite comfotable in that black hole…to the point that we snuggle in and start believing ” THIS IS ALL THERE IS FOR ME “. We are not being challenged and our days become very predictable. Very little is demanded of us and we don’t feel accountable to a anyone.

We even decorate our pits, mostly with pictures of those who put us there. Then we compare our pit with others in an effort to make sure ours is the worst !

The truth is, we cannot get ourselves out if we wanted to. Life is passing us by.

THE ONE WHO IS LIFE IS LISTENING TO YOU ! HIS NAME IS JESUS, AND HIS HAND IS REACHING OUT TO YOU AS I WRITE THIS. TAKE IT ! LET HIM PULL YOU OUT AND GUIDE YOU IN A NEW DIRECTION HE HAS PLANNED FOR YOU TO ENJOY!

An unknown author wrote this:

The Pit

A man fell into a pit and couldn’t get himself out.

A subjective person came along and said, “I feel for you down there.”

An objective person walked by and said, “It’s logical that someone would fall down there.”

A Pharisee said, “Only bad people fall into pits.”

A mathematician calculated how deep the pit was.

A legalist said, “You deserve your pit.”

A news reporter wanted the exclusive story on the pit.

An IRS agent asked “Are you paying taxes on that pit?”

A self-pitying person said, “You haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen
MY pit.”

A positive thinker said: “Just confess that you’re not in a pit.”

An optimist said, “Things could be worse.”

A pessimist claimed, “Things will get worse.”

Jesus, seeing the man, went down into the pit, took him by the hand, and lifted him out of the pit.
